To test this channel, you must first configure and start the HL7 Listener. You need to do this first to ensure that the channel that you have just created has an application with which to connect.

To configure the HL7 Listener:

• From Windows, click Start, then select Programs, iNTERFACEWARE, HL7 Analytical Tools and HL7 Listener. The HL7 Listener opens.

• In the Message log file field, type the path and file name of the file into which you want the HL7 Listener to write its message logs. You can specify any file location you like; if the file does not exist, the HL7 Listener will create it.

• Select the Append to message log file? check box. When this option is checked, the Listener adds messages to the end of the selected log file instead of overwriting previously saved messages.

• In the Port Number field, type the port number that you specified when you created the LLP Client destination component of your channel.

• Leave everything else as is, and click the Start button. In the example below, the Listener starts listening on port 5145 from the specified connection.

Configuring the HL7 Listener

Once you have the HL7 Listener properly configured, you are ready to start the channel.
