When a composite field is repeated within a segment, there is a one-to-many relationship between the segment field and its composite data, meaning that the field is repeated. There are generally three ways to map data from repeating fields, none of which is necessarily better than the other. The method to use depends on personal preference, and the nature of the data being mapped. Each method, along with their advantages and disadvantages, are described in the next section. |
