Part of the HL7 protocol is that the MSH segment can redefine the HL7 delimiters on the fly - Chameleon will do this by default. Occasionally, however, customers have encountered real world systems where the delimiter characters in the MSH segment are missing or incorrect. This creates some unpredictable results with parsing. To fix this problem:
If the HL7 implementation you are dealing with is also using non-standard characters then you may also need to edit the delimiter characters. |
