The final step in defining the NextOfKin table is to specify the mapping from the NK1 segment into the table.

• In the Table Grammar panel, double-click NextOfKin. An Information dialog box appears, informing you that you need to select a grammar root.
• Click OK. The Grammar Root Selection window appears.

Selecting the Grammar Root

• Select the NK1 segment as the grammar root. This tells Chameleon to create one row of the NextOfKin table for each NK1 segment in the message. The Table Mapping window appears.

The Table Mapping window is where you specify which segment field to associate with each of the data elements you want to extract. To map the NK1 segment to your NextOfKin table, you must drag fields from the right panel of the window to the Mapping column of the table. To do this:

• In the right pane of the Table Mapping window, expand field 2 (Name) of the NK1 segment.
• Drag the 2 - Given Name subfield to the FirstName row of the table.
• Expand subfield 1 (Family Name) of field 2 (Name), and drag its first subfield, 1 - Surname, to the Surname row of the table.
• Expand field 3 (Relationship) of the NK1 segment, and drag 1 - Identifier to the RelationshipToPatient row of the table.
• Expand field 5 (Phone Number) of the NK1 segment, and drag 1 - Telephone Number to the PhoneNumber row of the table.

Note that the only fields available for this mapping are the fields of the NK1 segment; you cannot access any data from other segments. This is because the NK1 segment is set as the grammar root for this table mapping.
