Sometimes it is useful to be able to re-use the same mappings for one table across many different messages. Other times you might prefer to have different mappings for the same table in other messages. Chameleon supports this by allowing each table to have several sets of associated mappings. For example, let's say that your VMD file contains two messages:
Both of these messages contain a Patient Information table in their respective table grammars. Instead of re-mapping the same table for the second message:
To re-use the Patient Information table's mappings all you need to do is add the same table to the second message's table grammar, and ensure that the same grammar root is selected. Chameleon will automatically use the same mapset from the first message.
Conversely, if you want to have different mappings for the same table in other messages, you need to add a new mapset and change the mappings accordingly. |
