Using the Segment Library, you can import segments from either the built-in segment library, or even from a local VMD file.

To import a segment from the built-in segment library:

• Click Workspace > Import Segments From Library. The Import Segments From Library window appears.
• Select from one of two options: (1) Import segments from a library, or (2) Import segments from a vmd file.

Importing Segments From a Library

• Select the library from which to import the new segment, or browse for the VMD file from which to import from, and click Next.
• Check the boxes of the segments you want to import from the library, and click Next. The Segments you selected are imported from the library and appear in the Workspace. If you check a segment, and type the three-letter identifier you will be taken directly to the one you want.

	Since HL7 is backwards compatible, it is not that important which HL7 version you select. However, it is usually a good idea to use the most recent version of the protocol, since it will contain a superset of all the fields from the previous versions.

• Click Finish to close the window.

	All the segments defined by the HL7 organization can be found in the libraries that ship with iNTERFACEWARE Chameleon.
