Before you begin, you need to acquire some real data to work with:

1. Use the HL7 Listener

• Using the HL7 Listener, you can listen on a network port to retrieve HL7 messages and log them to a text file. This makes it very easy to get realistic data that you can work with.

2. Verify that the LLP protocol is being correctly implemented

• The HL7 Listener will warn you if you are likely to have any low level problems with connectivity in acquiring the data. If the Listener works then you know that the site is correctly implementing the LLP Protocol.

	Don't Waste Time Reformatting Do not allow your customers to send you old log files from their existing interfaces because you will have to spend hours reformatting it.

The great thing about the HL7 Listener is that it ensures you get the data in a format that is easy to analyze and process using Iguana. You can easily use these messages to test your channel configuration using Iguana and the HL7 Simulator.
