If you are running your plugin on Windows and it is having a problem with the Iguana Communication Library (IGC.dll), try the following troubleshooting tips:

• Ensure that you are not trying to connect to the plugin communication port from any application other than a plugin that is using the IGC.dll communication library. Versions of Iguana starting with version 4.0 are not configured to accept connections through this port from other types of applications.
• Ensure that the IGC.dll file contained in the Iguana installation directory is the version that was installed by Iguana.
• If the version of IGC.dll contained in the Iguana installation directory is the correct version, your plugin may still be accessing an old version of IGC.dll.

To check whether the IGC.dll file contained in the Iguana installation directory is the correct version:

• In the Iguana installation directory, right-click on IGC.dll.
• From the popup menu that appears, select Properties.
• In the IGC.dll Properties window, click the Version tab.
• In the Item name panel, select Product Version.

If the IGC.dll file was shipped with version 4.0 or later of Iguana, the Value panel now displays a version number that is 4.0 or greater:

Even if you have the correct version of IGC.dll, your plugin may be incorrectly accessing an old version of the file. To ensure that your plugin is not accessing an old version of IGC.dll, you should:

• Make sure that your current local directory does not contain an old version of IGC.dll. An application running on Windows always looks in the local directory for the DLL files it needs before it looks anywhere else.

• Check your Windows system directories to see whether any old versions of IGC.dll have been copied there.

• Examine your PATH environment variable. Applications running on Windows search the directories specified in PATH in the order in which they appear. If the installation directory for an older version of Iguana is ahead of the installation directory for the current version, your application will find the older version of IGC.dll before it finds the correct one.

	A new version of the IGC.dll communication library is shipped with each version of Iguana. Versions of IGC.dll that are shipped with earlier versions of Iguana are not guaranteed to work with later versions.
