The Global Inbound Script enables you to modify an incoming message before it is parsed. This script is useful for stripping unwanted characters, removing illegally embedded characters and defining useful utility functions.

To define a Global Inbound Script:

• Click Chameleon > Global Inbound Script. The Global Inbound Script window appears. Alternatively, you can press F9 on your keyboard to display the window.
• In this window, type the Global Inbound Script.
• Click Check Syntax to verify that your indenting and spacing is correct.
• If your syntax is okay, click OK to save your changes.

The following predefined variables and functions are available for use in the Global Inbound Script:

• The value variable contains the entire message string.
• The environment variable specifies methods that enable you to connect to a database or convert and format date/time values.
• Delimiter functions enable you to access the field separator, escape and repeat characters that have been defined in the Message Delimiters tab of the Options window.
