To create a default message definition:

• Click the Message icon to create a new message definition. The new message definition appears in the Workspace, and is given the name Message1.
• Right-click Message1, and choose Rename Message. Rename it Default.
• In the main menu, click Chameleon and select Options. The Options window appears.
• Select the Special Messages tab.
• From the Default (unidentified message) drop-down menu, select the newly created Default message definition.

Defining a Default Message Definition

	Any message definition can be used as the default.

• Click OK to save your change.
• Save the VMD file.
• Click the Stubcode icon in the toolbar. When the Stubcode Generation Wizard appears, follow the instructions in Generating an Application and Testing the Application to regenerate and re-run the server.
• Click Start Listening on the server, and then click Start on the Simulator.

The ADT^A03 message that formerly generated a hex dump is now classified as being of type Default.

	Defining a default message definition is a good defensive practice in most situations, since your application can then handle unanticipated messages.
